Indie Band of The Day

Alright everyone! This has been a long time coming but I finally have decided to add one of my personal favorite bands to the site for all of you to enjoy! So here they are, "Thee Oh Sees". One of the most psychedelic, amazing and fantastic bands of all time, these guys are like the ultimate acid trip and best sex you ever had all wrapped in one. Now, here is a little bit about the band!

Thee Oh Sees is a band from San Francisco, California, USA. The group began as an outlet for John Dwyer (of Coachwhips, Pink and Brown, Yikes, The Hospitals) to release his instrumental, experimental home recordings, and over the course of several albums evolved into a full band. The band is noted for its prolific album releases, energetic live shows, and whimsical visual aesthetic that juxtaposes cartoon imagery and horror.
The band has changed its name several times, being known as Orinoka Crash Suite, OCS, Orange County Sound, and The Ohsees.

Well, there is a tiny bit about this great band but if you like what you hear, other bands you can listen to are "Jay Reatard" and "Nobunny" which are both derived from this same band, "Thee Oh Sees".  Now for some links! The first is to my personal favorite song of theirs of their newest album,
"Minotaur", the second is to their song, " Toe Cutter- Thumb Buster" off of the new album as well, and the last one is to their cover of The Creation's "If I Stay Too Long". Now, because I am such a great person, I have also added another two videos of both Jay Reatard and Nobunny! so make sure to check those out as well! The first is to Jay Reatard's song, "It ain't gonna save me" and the other one is Nobunny's song, " Blow Dumb" which is one of my personal favorites!

Indie Band Of The Day

Alright Folks, you know, they say some people are destined for bad luck and to be honest, i would have to believe i am one of them! Needless to say, two black widow spider bites, a trip to the hospital and a loss of my cat to a speeding saturn are only a few of the things that have happened to me in this week alone! Well, enough about mw now, here is the terrific band of the day! these guys have truly helped me out these past days in the hospital and at home so it only seems fair that you have their music to calm your hectic and terrible days as well! Without further ado, here is a little about this terrific band, Times New Viking:

Times New Viking is a lo-fi indie rock band from Columbus, Ohio. The lineup consists of guitarist Jared Phillips, drummer Adam Elliott, and Beth Murphy on keyboards. Murphy and Elliott share vocal duties. Their name, "Times New Viking," is a play on the popular typeface Times New Roman. They have released five albums: 2005's Dig Yourself, 2007's Present the Paisley Reich, and 2008's Rip It Off, which NME gave an 8/10, and 2009's Born Again Revisited. Rip it Off reached No. 17 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The band was formerly signed to Siltbreeze and Matador Records. In January 2011, they announced that their fifth album, Dancer Equired!, will be released in April via Merge in the US, Wichita in Europe, Pop Frenzy in Australia and Big Nothing in Japan.
Times New Viking have been noted for their lo-fi aesthetic, recorded to cassette, which drew comparisons to Guided by Voices' early material. This also meant they were considered part of the "shitgaze" genre, alongside contemporaries such as Psychedelic Horseshit and Eat Skull. Notable features of their songs include shouted vocals, distorted drums and loud, trebly guitars, in addition to tape hiss and brevity. Their lyrics are generally sloganistic and feature pop culture references.
With 2009's Born Again Revisited, the band recorded the album to VHS and commented the recording fidelity had increased by 25%. In 2010, the group released a 7" single available on their tours opening for Guided by Voices. The single, featuring "No Room to Live", displayed cleaner production, a result of the band utilising proper recording studios for the first time – namely Musicol Recording studio and Columbus Discount Recordings. It has been reported by Merge Records that Dancer Equired! will also feature this production style.

As you can probably already tell, these crazy guys are like a Jay Reatard, Psychedelic Horseshit and DUDES mixture with a psychotic noise explosion that questions all life in its own simplistic existence. They are one of my personal favorites ( as well as one of comedian Demetri Martin's favorite bands)  and have a special place in my heart and so, here are a few links so you can open that same place in your heart for this fantastic band! The first is to their song, " no time, no hope", the second is to their song, "No room to live", the third is to their song, " Ever Falling in Love" and the final link is to their BandPage! Hope you enjoy this terrific band and Stay Tuned for more bands up ahead!!

pictures courtesy of Nathan Austin and Samantha Lee

Well Folks, since we just so happen to be the coolest group of music lovers on the planet here at IBF, it was only obvious that twenty year old photographer, artist and personal friend Nathan Austin from Nampa, Idaho join us on this glorious journey for the best music across the world. So be prepared for some mind blowing band shots from none other than the Uke Man himself! In his spare time, Nathan says he likes long topless walks on the beack, wanking off to pictures of cats in tutus and doing art obviously! (his words not mine, haha, but now do you see how easy it is to become one of our photographers or writers??) Needless to say, he completely fits the bill here at IBF considering that's what all of us spend our days doing really, so enjoy some of his wonderful shots on our upcoming stories and i'll catch you all on the flip side!! Toodles!!

Indie Band Of The Day: Justice

Well Everybody! the weeks up until this new post have been so damn tough for the entire crew here at indie band finder! from stolen guitars to near homelessness, most of our crew have been going through quite alot and though a lead journalist and editor can do quite alot, there is only so much she can do. Therefore, these weeks we have all let you, the readers, down but never fear because today is a day of exumation and Indie Band Finder is back once again stronger than ever. All that has been promised shall be given as well as nearly fifteen new endeavors we have come across! As for today, it is my pleasure to show you this excellent band. Justice have been the band my ipod plays most of all for nearly five years and i can assure you that my love for them is just as strong as it was the day I stumbled upon their exquisite music video "DVNO" and was in awe. So without further ado, here is a bit about the band:

Justice (stylised as Jus†ice) is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé (born 21 May 1979 in Besançon, Doubs) and Xavier de Rosnay (born 2 July 1982 in Ozoir-la-Ferrière, Seine et Marne). The duo is one of the most successful groups on Ed Banger Records and is managed by the label's head, Pedro Winter. Justice is known for incorporating a strong rock and indie influence into their music and image.
Their debut album was released in June 2007  to critical acclaim. The album was later nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album and came in at number 15 on Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums of 2007 and number 18 on Blender's "25 Best Albums of 2007" list. It was nominated for the 2007 Shortlist Prize, losing out to The Reminder by Feist. Their remix of the MGMT song "Electric Feel" won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical in 2009.
In September 2009, it was announced that Justice would be moving to WMG/Atlantic's newly relaunched Elektra Records label. The band reportedly started working on their second album in mid-2010. The first single entitled "Civilization" was released on 28 March 2011. The band released their second album, Audio, Video, Disco, on 24 October 2011. Their newest release is due May 7th 2013, which will be a Live album titled Access All Arenas.

Well, as you read, their new album is debuting tomorrow so make sure to set your alarms because it is hot off the press and ready to blow your minds! And now, here are a few links for you guys, the first is to their incredible song, "NewJack", the second is to their song, "Genesis", the third is to their fantastic song, "DVNO", the fourth is to my personal favorite, "On' N' On'' , the fifth is to their badass song "D.A.N.C.E." and the sixth and final link is to their Facebook Page where you can stay updated with their tours, shows and music!
