indie band of the day

alright guys, so here is the indie band of the day, they happen to be personal friends of mine but i'm not just adding them because of that, they are one of the best new punk bands out there in my opinion. Not only do they bring a sort of pizzaz to the scene that has been missing for quite some time but for all the ladies out there, these guys bring the charm back when it comes to punk. sure, you could go out and pay two hundred dollars to see some dying has-beens but i can assure you you won't get the kind of stage presence, attitude and energy these guys exhibit on a daily basis. so without further ado, here is my interview with this outstanding up and coming band ''Albion'' :

1-why did you guys name the band albion?
Albion is an old term for Great Britain and we view it as mythical vehicle/vessel which allows you to escape reality. So in a way we view our music as a mirror to society and as a vehicle to escape the problems with society, life and the world around whilst also providing an escape from such issues. Live outside your head, live inside a song!
2-who are your main inspirations?
We all have separate inspirations ranging from The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Guns n Roses, Beatles to Nirvana but as a group our main influences are Black Flag, Sex Pistols, Gallows, Dead Kennedys and The Ramones.
3-when did the band form and how?
February 2012, we just got talking about music and how much we’d love to make our own and just jam as a group.

4-where are you all from and how old is each member?
Jake Osborn (lead guitar, vocals)- 19 years oldSimon Ward (rhythm guitar definitely no vocals) – 19 years old
Simon Greenmore (bass, backing vocals)- 22 years old
Mark Greenmore (mums, bums and drums, backing vocals) – 20 years old
We are all from Suffolk, England near the town of Ipswich
5-were you friends before the band?
We all went to the same high school and have been friends for 5 years, but playing music has certainly brought us closer as a group.

6-what is your favorite song to play?
It’s a close call between a new song we’ve written Walls of Babylon (to be released on our new album) and We Stand Up but we’ll go for We Stand Up!

7- if you could each meet one person, who would it be and why?

Jake Osborn- James Matthews, from the band More Than Life as they are my favourite band and I’m actually meeting him Saturday!!!! [which for the people who were wondering, he did meet him]Simon Ward- Kurt Cobain, as without him I wouldn’t have picked up guitar or been able to discover the DC Hardcore scene.
Simon Greenmore- John Kay, from the band Steppenwolf, as he has a positive attitude towards liberalism in comparison to his more apathetic peers from that era.
Mark Greemore- John Bonham, he’s the reason I keep breaking sticks!

8-what are your dreams for the future of the band?
To gig and hopefully tour as much as possible

9-would you ever visit the US for a tour?
FUCK YAAA!!!!
10- what are your guys' favorite things to do besides music?
Listen to music, getting inked watch sport and comedy movies/films such as Naked Gun, Airplane and Harry Enfield.  [which for anyone who was wondering, Naked Gun and Airplane are Indie Band Girl's favorite movies besides donnie darko, american psycho and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.]
11-what do you want to get out of music?
To unify an otherwise disenfranchised generation, to be able to come together to bring about the possibility of change.

12- when will be your next time in the studio?
Hopefully in the next few months, over Christmas we recorded 3 cover tracks to release on the internet within the next month so keep ya ears open!!!

Well if you couldn't tell from their answers alone, these boys are hillarious and wonderful as hell, so make sure to check out their music as soon as possible, here are the links, the first is to their song ''kick someone about'' , the second is to their song, ''peter longstockings'' and the other link is to their facebook page where you can find out more about the band and keep updated on their shows and recording dates.

SO CHECK 'EM OUT GUYS!!! :{D

Indie Band Of The Day

okay, so here is the indie band of the day, they are so awesome it nearly makes me go nuts haha, i lvoe these guys and i have to listen to them at least once a day, they're called ''los campesinos!'' and here is the band info:

Los Campesinos! are a seven piece indie pop band from Cardiff, Wales, formed in early 2006 at Cardiff University. Although the band formed in Wales, none of its members are Welsh. They released their debut album, Hold on Now, Youngster..., in February 2008 and followed this up by releasing a record titled We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, in October that year. Whilst many consider it to be an album due to its length, the band have always referred to it as a 'record' or EEP (extended EP) for contractual and artistic reasons. Their second official album, entitled Romance Is Boring, was released on 1 February 2010. Their fourth full-length release, Hello Sadness, was released on 14 November 2011. The band toured the US and UK extensively throughout 2012.
The group came together at Cardiff University in 2006, originally consisting of Neil Turner on guitar, Ellen Waddell on bass guitar, and Ollie Briggs on drums. In March 2006, Tom Bromley joined the band, assuming the role of lead guitarist, later followed by Gareth Paisey – who became the band's principal lyricist – on lead vocals and glockenspiel, Harriet Coleman on violin and keyboard, and finally Aleksandra Berditchevskaia on vocals, keyboards, and melody horn. According to Tom, he met Neil after overhearing him discussing Sufjan Stevens at a club. The band's earliest compositions were long pieces in the style of post-rock, though no recordings from this era are known to circulate publicly. The word campesino in Spanish translates to "peasant" or "country person." All members of the band refer to their surnames as Campesinos!.
The band performed their first gig on 8 May 2006 at a student union club night; they went on to play a number of increasingly well-received gigs around Cardiff. An early demo was recorded featuring the songs "Death To Los Campesinos!", "It Started With A Mixx", "Sweet Dreams Sweet Cheeks", and live favourite "You! Me! Dancing!". The songs were posted on the Internet, bolstering the popularity established by their energetic live shows and earning them airplay on Beth & Huw's evening show on BBC Radio 1 Wales. The band's reputation continued to grow, and in August 2006 landed them a slot supporting Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene In November 2006, the band were signed by Wichita Recordings.

so there is the band info and now here are the links, the first is to their song, ''you me dancing'' and the second is to their song, ''The Sea is a good place to think of the future''

indie band of the day

okay guys, so here is the indie band of the day, they're called grandaddy and the way i found them is actually pretty hillarious. one day i was searching at a local thriftstore for some records to add to my record collection when i saw the cover of one of their albums shine out at me. i turned to their cd and bought it instantly and when i got in the car i put it in the cd player immediately. when i heard the first song ''jeez louise'' i fell in love with their band and knew i had to hear more, so now i am a big fan of them and so should you, the band is no longer a band but the singer still occasionally plays solo shows so you have the chance of hearing him live at least, needlessto say, here is the band info:

Grandaddy is an American indie rock band from Modesto, California, formed in 1992. The band consists of Jason Lytle (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Kevin Garcia (bass guitar), Aaron Burtch (drums), Jim Fairchild (guitar) and Tim Dryden (keyboards).
After several self-released records and cassettes the band signed to Will Records in the US and later the V2 subsidiary Big Cat Records in the UK, going on to sign an exclusive deal with V2. The bulk of the band's recorded output was the work of Lytle, who worked primarily in home studios. The band released four studio albums before splitting in 2006, with band members going on to solo careers and other projects. Grandaddy reformed in 2012 and have since made a number of live appearances.Grandaddy was formed in 1992 by singer, guitarist, and keyboardist Jason Lytle, bassist Kevin Garcia, and drummer Aaron Burtch. The group was initially influenced by US punk bands such as Suicidal Tendencies and Bad Brains.Lytle was a former professional skateboarder, who had turned to music after a knee injury forced him to stop, working at a sewage treatment works to fund the purchase of equipment, and several of the band's early live performances were at skateboarding competitions. The band members constructed a studio at the Lytle family home, and the band's first release was the self-produced cassette Complex Party Come Along Theories in April 1994.Singles "Could This Be Love" and "Taster" followed later that year.[5] In 1995, guitarist Jim Fairchild (another ex-pro-skater who had guested with the band before) and keyboardist Tim Dryden joined the band.A second cassette, Don't Sock the Tryer was withdrawn, with the band instead releasing debut mini-album A Pretty Mess by This One Band in April 1996 on the Seattle-based Will label. In 1997 they released their debut full-length album Under the Western Freeway, and with the help of Howe Gelb, signed a UK deal with Big Cat Records (by then a subsidiary of V2), who reissued the album the following year. The album included the single "A.M. 180", which was featured during a sequence in the 2002 British film 28 Days Later, and is also used as the theme song for the BBC Four television series Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, and for an advertisement for Colin Murray's BBC Radio 1 show. "A.M. 180" was also used in television commercials for the Dodge Journey automobile. One of the album's singles, "Summer Here Kids", was awarded 'Single of the Week' by the NME."Summer Here Kids" is also used as the theme music for another Charlie Brooker-fronted show, BBC Radio 4's So Wrong It's Right. The album led to an increase in the band's popularity in Europe, and a main stage performance at the Reading Festival in 1998, although it was only a success in the US when later reissued by V2. With the band busy touring in 1999, their next release was the compilation The Broken Down Comforter Collection.

and now, here are their links, the first is to their song ''elevate myself'', the second is their song ''where i'm anymore'' which is my personal favorite, and the third is to their music page.
