Kishi Bashi is K Ishibashi's self-recorded and self-produced project. K is a founding member of Jupiter One, as well as a touring member of of Montreal and Regina Spektor.

Ishibashi has recorded with and toured internationally as a violinist with diverse artists such as Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche, and most recently, the Athens, Georgia based indie rock group of Montreal.
Ishibashi is also the singer and founding member of the New York synth rock outfit, Jupiter One. In 2011, he started to record and perform as a solo artist, opening for Sondre Lerche,Alexi Murdoch, and of Montreal. He supported of Montreal on their spring 2012 tour. Ishibashi has an eponymous side project, with which he plans on releasing his first EP under this moniker on the Joyful Noise label in late 2012, it has the tentative title "I Lost My Wrestling Match To Davey Pierce On The Big Black Bus".
Shortly after debuting his full length solo album 151a, NPR All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen listed Kishi Bashi as his favorite new artist of 2012 noting that he created "a radiant, uplifting soundscape" with songs such as "Bright Whites." In the same year, Microsoft licensed "Bright Whites" for use in a commercial for Windows 8. Around the same time, Sony used Kishi Bashi's song "It All Began With A Burst" from the same album for a commercial introducing their Xperia Tablet S. In addition to these placements, Smart licensed "Chester's Burst Over The Hamptons" for their line of smart cars in the United States.
Kishi Bashi has since been invited to play in major festivals such as SXSW and Austin City Limits and gone on an extensive US tour with supporting acts like The Last Bison, who happen to be from his native Hampton Roads, Virginia. indie band of the day

okay guys, so here is the indie band of the day, they're called the myrrors and they bring the sixties back to this new generation with a modern twist! so here is the band info:
The Myrrors were an underground psychedelic rock group from Phoenix, Arizona consisting of Nik Rayne on sitar, guitar and vocals, Cesar Alatorre on guitar, Christopher Safi on bass and Grant Beyshau on drums and percussion. They released one record in 2008 entitled Burning Circles In The Sky before splitting up in late 2009. Various tracks by the band have been included on various psychedelic rock compilations by labels such as Psyilocybin Sounds and Quixodelic Records.

indie band of the day

okay, so here is the indie band of the day, these guys are pretty cool and i personally love their raunchy music. they're called ''clinical trials'' and now, here is the band info:

Clinical Trials is the electro-grunge offspring of Somer Bingham, a self-produced multi-instrumentalist and a powerful, unforgettable performer who recently brought her rock & roll swagger to Showtime's docu-series The Real L Word. Both Bingham and the music of Clinical Trials can be similarly described: fueled by punk, tinged with sexuality, yet still dangerously charming. It's a "panther...that stalks and menaces...radiating heat and raw energy."
Taking inspiration from the energy of Nirvana, Patti Smith and PJ Harvey, Clinical Trials is the perfect hybrid of raw sound combined with a love of production in the vein of Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode and The Kills. Add a balls-out live compliment in the form of drummer Stacey Lee, and the end result oozes an intoxicating dysphoria that breeds in a world of whiskey waterfalls & post-punk pop.
"Clinical Trials steps up the noise-rock formula through the addition of orchestral and industrial elements, boosted by confident performances and songwriting. If only Frances Bean would make up with Courtney – they would probably enjoy checking out this band together." - The Deli Magazine
"Like Elastica with extra vitriol and a dash of grandeur." - MTV Music Blog
"...armed with a guitar and a gruff and gutsy vocal style, reminiscent of Joan Jett." - NY Press

indie band of the day

okay ,so i found this super strange band today, so i will be doing two indie bands of the day today because i can assure you that this band is definitely worth it. they're called cheese people and i found them by accident while adding bands to my phone and thank god i did haha. they have the most amazing singer on the planet and i absolutely adore teir piano as well hahah so here is their band info:
With the return of the dance punk genre and the rise of new rave, bands such as Klaxons, CSS and Does It Offend You, Yeah? have experienced dizzying levels of success. Drawing inspiration from the indie rock, disco and new wave genres, these bands have managed to sound loud, fresh and exciting.  Even established masters like Groove Armada have given a definite nod to slightly retro sounds in their latest work as evidenced on their critically acclaimed album Black Light.  While Klaxons and Groove Armada continue to delight and excite, many bands have simply sounded old and tired and I have become increasingly selective when choosing new acts in the genre.
It was with some interest then that I picked up the self-titled Cheese People debut. They claimed to have been isolated from the mainstream and to have based their music on acts such as Prodigy and Gloria Gaynor but they were increasingly likened to CSS, Datarock and New Young Pony Club.

Hailing from the Russian city of Samara, Cheese People have been playing together since 2003. They started off playing in basements but their brand of manic pop has seen them become Russia's most popular disco punk band.  Vocalist Olga Chubarova and guitarist Anton Zalygin wrote and recorded most of the songs with the help of producer Shipovnic.
The album begins with the funky disco beats of "Stroitel". Far from being a simple retro tribute, the song soon explodes into electronic and synthetic beats and introduces Olga's distinctive meowing vocal style.  For a band supposedly cut off from the modern world, Cheese People are certainly achieving most of the new rave standards. Next up is "Ua-A-A", my favourite song on the album.  The sardonic vocals and menacing beats make this a really catchy feminist anthem and I was most pleased to see that the album included an extended version of the song at the end.
"Catch U" begins as a catchy pop tune that sounds like a more accessible CSS in places. The song is saved from mediocrity as it explodes into grinding guitars and a catchy refrain. "Boombasters" is funky filler featuring rather absurd lyrics from Anton. It is a silly song and certainly more about the music than the meaning. It makes me realise that Cheese People must be incredible live though.
I’m surprised, actually, that more comparisons haven’t been drawn to acts like Le Tigre or feminist pop.  The middle of the album certainly leans towards those acts as Cheese People depart from the new rave sounds.  "Moon" is a lyrical song with a rough, garage sound to it and features Olga’s drawling riot grrrl-esque vocals and "Wake Up" is similar in sound and a catchy anthem..
"O-Djaz" is simply a jazzy, funky interlude and "Tibet+6++" follows with a haunting, experimental sound. "Down & Down" features Anton on lead vocals again with Olga supporting with wonderfully Eastern sound vocals. It is quite a laid back song and certainly one of my favourites on the album.
“Open My Eyes” is an upbeat and energetic return to electronic sounds and Olga’s sardonic vocals while “Eats Your Popcorn” is just silly.  The album closes with “I Hate This Sound” which has all the hallmarks of a classic dance anthem.  It is a surprisingly ambitious and multi-layered song to find at the end of the album and it is a great final track.  Some versions of the album also feature the fabulous extend Gari remix of “Ua-A-A”.
After listening to this album, I could certainly imagine seeing Cheese People on the same line up as CSS, Klaxons or New Young Pony Club.  It seems incredible that Cheese People emerged from a state of relative musical isolation to release such an authentic dance punk album.  This is a rich album with a nod to several musical styles though and perhaps that isolation allowed them a little more freedom in their musical expression?  One thing is for sure though: geographical borders and language barriers are beginning to mean less and less and I imagine that I’ll be listening to far more Eastern European music in the months to come.
Cheese People is an energetic, fun and unique album and a fine introduction to this talented band.  I give the album four out of five stars.

indie band of the day

okay guys, so here is the indie band of the day, they're called ''m83'' and recently quite alot of fame has circled due to their song ''midnight city'' but don't let this fool you, they are still not quite big yet so let's help them get there hahaha, needless to say, here is their band info:

M83 is a French electronic/shoegaze band from Antibes, formed in 2001 by Anthony Gonzalez and Nicolas Fromageau. The band is named after the spiral galaxy Messier 83, and its musical aesthetic is influenced by shoegaze in its extensive use of reverb effects and lyrics spoken softly over loud instrumentals, although M83's songs employ considerably less guitar than most shoegaze bands.
Gonzalez and Fromageau parted ways shortly after touring for their second album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts, with Gonzalez now recording primarily on his own, often with the help of his brother Yann Gonzalez, vocalist/keyboardist Morgan Kibby, and drummer Loïc Maurin. In 2011, Gonzalez posted an open audition on the M83 website for a multi-instrumentalist who could join the band. 19 year-old Jordan Lawlor won the audition.
In spring 2001, M83 released its self-titled debut album. The release did not attract much attention outside Europe until September 2005, when Mute Records reissued the album for a worldwide release. M83's second album Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts followed in spring 2003 (and summer 2004 in North America) to widespread critical acclaim. After worldwide touring for Dead Cities resumed, Nicolas Fromageau left the band. Gonzalez returned to the studio to record the group's third studio album, Before the Dawn Heals Us, which was released in January 2005. The same year, M83 provided a remix of "The Pioneers" by Bloc Party, which was also included on Bloc Party's remix album Silent Alarm Remixed. M83 also remixed Placebo's "Protège-Moi," Goldfrapp's "Black Cherry," Depeche Mode's "Suffer Well," Van She's "Kelly," and The Bumblebeez's "Vila Attack." Similarly, M83's songs have been remixed by Gooom labelmates Montag and Cyann & Ben.
In 2006, after the Before the Dawn Heals Us US tour, Anthony Gonzalez continued to explore a musical direction already heard on earlier M83 tracks and began writing and recording a collection of ambient works. The album was recorded primarily at his home studio with the assistance of Antoine Gaillet. The resulting project was called Digital Shades Vol. 1, and was released in September 2007 with a sleeve illustrated by Laurent Fetis (known for his work with DJ Hell, Beck, and Tahiti 80). It is intended to be part of an ongoing series of ambient works.
Saturdays = Youth, M83's fifth studio album, was released in April 2008. It was recorded with Ken Thomas (known for his work with Sigur Rós, The Sugarcubes, Boys in a Band, Cocteau Twins, and Suede), Ewan Pearson (who has also produced for Tracey Thorn, The Rapture and Ladytron) and Morgan Kibby (of The Romanovs). The album features a more focused approach to song structure and form, and Gonzalez stated that the main influence of the album came from music of the 1980s: "I think that ’80s music is such a brilliant period for music history. It was the occasion for me to do a tribute to this ’80s music, but [it was] also a tribute to my teenage years because the main theme of the album is being a teenager, and being a teenager means a lot to me." Four singles were released from the album: "Couleurs" in February 2008, "Graveyard Girl" in April, "Kim & Jessie" in July, and "We Own the Sky" in December. Redbull and Snowboarder Travis Rice used "We Own the Sky" as the opening song in the 2008 snowboard film "That's It That's All". M83 also appeared on a limited edition split 7" single with Maps in 2008; M83 remixed Maps' "To the Sky," while Maps provided a remix of M83's "We Own the Sky."
In December 2008, M83 supported Kings of Leon on its UK tour. In January and February 2009, M83 supported The Killers across United States tour dates and toured with Depeche Mode on its Tour of the Universe in Italy, Germany, and France. In July, M83 appeared at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. In July 2009, M83 appeared at the Wexner Center in Columbus, Ohio. There was an altercation between Gonzalez and a Wexner Center security guard, while on stage. M83 later apologized to its fans for the incident.
In Spring 2010, M83 composed the score of French director Gilles Marchand's film Black Heaven. On 5 July 2010, the Black Heaven Soundtrack was released, which included two new songs by M83 called "Black Hole" and "Marion's Theme," along with five tracks from his back catalog. The soundtrack also includes songs from the score by Emmanuel D'Orlando, Moon Dailly, and John & Jehn. However, his feelings towards the record were largely negative, leaving him depressed.
In 2011, Gonzalez started working on a new batch of songs for an album slated for release later in the year. He described the tracks as darker and "very, very, very epic". Speaking with Spin, he said of the new album "It's a double album. It's mainly about dreams, how every one is different, how you dream differently when you're a kid, a teenager, or an adult. I'm really proud of it. If you're doing a very long album, all the songs need to be different and I think I've done that with this one." He plans on recording again with Morgan Kibby as well as others, including Medicine's mastermind Brad Laner, Nine Inch Nails bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen and Zola Jesus.
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is Gonzalez's first double album, which he has dreamed of making ever since he heard The Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, however, it did not come easy. "I wanted to make a very eclectic album but also something not too long. Making a double album was a dream of mine for a long, long time and I felt ready to make this move,” he explains. Discussing the sound and process of creating this album, Gonzalez says it was "written like a soundtrack to an imaginary movie with different ambiances, different atmospheres, different tempos, different orchestrations and different instrumentation....When I make an album it's always about nostalgia, melancholy in the past and memories."
On 19 July 2011, "Midnight City", the first single from Hurry Up, We're Dreaming, was released for streaming and free download on the band's official website. Beginning in October, they toured North America and Europe to promote the album; Active Child supported the US leg of the tour.
The album notably placed 3rd in Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums of 2011 list; the single "Midnight City" was placed 1st on the Top 100 Tracks list.
On 26 January 2012, M83 came in at number 5 on the Triple J Hottest 100 with the single "Midnight City".

indie band of the day

okay, so here is the indie band of the day. they're called ''The Drums'' and they have a sort of soft new wave essence to them which i love very much. so now, here is the band info:

The Drums are an American indie pop band from Brooklyn, NY with members stemming from the short-lived band Elkland (formerly Goat Explosion). The band is currently on the Moshi Moshi/Island (UK), Universal (AU) and Frenchkiss (US) labels.
Founding members Jonathan (Jonny) Pierce and Jacob Graham became friends as children, having met at a summer camp around age 12 or 13. Some years later, they formed the short-lived electro-pop group Goat Explosion.
Soon after they formed indie pop group Elkland, which quickly gained attention and was signed by Columbia Records. Meanwhile Graham formed 'Horse Shoes,' which was signed by Shelflife Records. Elkland disbanded in May of 2006, after which Jonny took a couple years off from making music. In 2008 Jonny and Jacob came up with the concept for The Drums, and Pierce moving to Kissimee, Florida, where Graham resided at the time, so that they could more readily collaborate. They then moved to Brooklyn, New York, in the spring of 2009, where they hired drummer Connor Hanwick and guitarist Adam Kessler. The band had their first gig within a week of arriving in Brooklyn. In October 2009, the band released their first album, Summertime!, with nine songs.
In December 2009 the band was shortlisted as one of the 15 music acts for the BBC Sound of 2010. Subsequently, they placed at No. 5 in this list on 4 January 2010. The Drums also appeared in Cliché Magazine's December '09/January '10 issue. The article featured an exclusive interview by Executive Editor Miguel Ángel Jimenez and drummer Connor Hanwick. In NME's first issue of 2010 they were named number 1 in the magazine's top tips for the year as well as in Clash Magazine's Tips for 2010. The Drums were also voted "Best Hope for 2010" in Pitchfork Media's 2009 Readers' Poll.
In February 2010, the band played venues around the UK on the 2010 NME Awards Tour alongside The Maccabees, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Big Pink, going on to play support band for Florence and the Machine's 2010 Cosmic Love tour.In June 2010 they played as one of the support bands for Kings of Leon in Hyde Park, London.
On May 7, 2010, they appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross where they performed "Best Friend". Their debut album was officially released on June 7, 2010, on Moshi Moshi and Island Records. The album contained the singles "Let's Go Surfing," "Best Friend," "Me and the Moon" and "Forever and Ever, Amen" as well as "Down By The Water," which had previously been released as part of the band's Summertime! EP. On September 16, 2010, it was announced on the band's Facebook page and website that guitarist Adam Kessler had left the band.
After the disaster in Japan, the Drums released the single "The New World" on April 11, 2011. On May 5, 2011, it was reported by the NME that The Drums had expanded their live line-up to include Chris Stein and Myles Matheny (of Violens). In June 2011 drummer Danny Lee Allen (We Are Scientists, Youth Group) joined the band, replacing Chris Stein.
For their sophomore LP, the band avoided slumping by recording it quickly, again self producing, often laying down tracks spontaneously in singer Jonny Pierce’s kitchen. They released Portamento, on September 5, 2011. The album title has a deeper meaning for Pierce, as he describes, “Jacob and I meeting as young boys with a shared love for Kraftwerk and Anything Box and Wendy Carlos, and these were all synth pioneers, and a common feature on old analogue systems was ‘Portamento’. The band has also revealed that they almost split at the end of June due to stylistic disagreements. Jacob explained, "I think our band is kind of fragile and probably on the verge of breaking up pretty constantly and I say that seriously and jokingly at the same time."
In 2011, Jonny Pierce co-wrote "In The Middle (I Met You There) with Brooklyn artist Matthew Dear for his EP "Headcage". His writing credits also include "You Gave Me Nothing" and "Lose It (In the End)" which are included in Mark Ronson's album "Record Collection." Currently, Pierce is producing unsigned band Connie Fucking Francis which he describes as "the most incredible punk music."
The Drums are noted for their pre-newwave-tinged nostalgic pop, Pierce's dancing, stage motions, and angelic blonde facade, and the band's pre-flower power image.
MTV gave the band a celebrity chart special on MTV HD channel in May, 2012, where Pierce and Graham introduced their favourite videos and bands as well as some of their own videos.
The band cite their major influences as The Wake, The Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, The Tough Alliance, The Legends, The Shangri-las, The Embassy and Orange Juice. Graham also mentions that reverb in general has played a major role in their sound: "...If reverb didn't exist we wouldn't have bothered trying to start a band."

and now, here are the band links, the first is to their song, '' Don't be a jerk, johnny '' and the second is to their song '' Money ''   ENJOY!! :{D

indie band of the day

well hello again fellow music afficionados, here is the indie band of the day. they're called ''Billie the Vision and the Dancers'' and they are so fantastic it's crazy. i listen to their music on a daily basis now that i've discovered them and since the day i found them while searching hundreds of videos for the most unheard of bands, i have never been so proud to announce a band. so here is the band info:

Billie the Vision & the Dancers is a Swedish indie band with roots in Malmö, Blekinge, Dalarna and Argentina. The band recorded the first album I Was So Unpopular in School and Now They're Giving Me This Beautiful Bicycle in the spring of 2004. They produce their albums through the company Love will pay the Bills. Free mp3 files of all five albums are available through their website, with an appeal for donations in return. Their song, Summercat, was used in an advert for Spanish lager makers, Estrella Damm. The band were also included in the advert, performing in Menorca. The first airing of the Barcelona based beer companies advert was in Spain, 2009. It first aired in the UK in the Spring of 2012.
BtV&tD got together in Malmö, Sweden during the recordings of the first album in the spring of 2004. The singer Lars Lindquist had some songs for a solo project but one person wasn't enough, he thought. Over the months of recording he persuaded some of his friends and others to be a part of the project.

indie band of the day

okay guys, so here is the indie band of the day, they're called the antlers and this is literally my favorite band. they are the best band in the world and i love their music with all of my heart. they have both the melody and the look and when i go anywhere, i can't go without their music on my phone. its absolutely fantastic, so here ist he info about this fantastic band, hopefully you love them as much as me:

The Antlers is an indie rock band currently based in Brooklyn, New York, fronted by Peter Silberman.
Initially, The Antlers was a solo project created by vocalist and guitarist Peter Silberman immediately after he had moved to Brooklyn, New York City.Silberman wrote the first two albums, Uprooted and In the Attic of the Universe by himself. Afterwards, he recruited Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci, becoming a collaborative group.
The band recorded two EPs: Cold War and New York Hospitals. Silberman's collection of songs would later become a full-length album titled Hospice. The story behind Hospice has been debated, but Silberman has explained the record as being the story of an emotionally abusive relationship, told through the analogy of a Hospice worker and terminally-ill patient. The album was independently released by the band in March 2009, selling out of all of the quantities in stock. The band later commented that they "bit off more than they could chew." The band later signed with New York-based label Frenchkiss Records, and the label released a remastered version of Hospice on August 18, 2009. The album received critical praise for both its narrative and musicianship, and has since been listed on several "Album of the Year" lists.
In 2010, the band appeared at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, and opened for The National. Additionally, the band played the 2010 Osheaga Festival in Montreal, as well as the 2010 Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago.
Silberman has said the band's name is taken from The Microphones' song, "Antlers".
In 2011, the album Burst Apart was released May 10 through Frenchkiss in the States and May 9 through new UK / Japan / Europe label Transgressive Records. The album was met with mostly positive reviews from musical publications.
On September 6, 2011 The Antlers appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon performing the song "I Don't Want Love" from Burst Apart.
On July 24th The Antlers released a four song EP entitled "Undersea," out on ANTI- in the U.S. and Transgressive Records in the UK/Europe.

indie band of the day

okay chicos y chicas, here is the indie band of the day, they're called 'Thieves Like Us'  and they're pretty cool peeps, their music is both melodic and calming and i personally adore them, so here is the band info:
Thieves Like Us is a Swedish-American band.
The band's music is mostly electronic and is also influenced by the krautrock, italo disco, glam punk, post-punk, French touch and hip-hop genres. Thieves Like Us consider themselves a pop group.
Swedes Pontus Berghe (drums) and Björn Berglund (keyboards) met the American Andy Grier (vocals) in Berlin's Mauerpark in 2002. They started DJing together, and eventually produced their own electronic music. Since 2002, they have lived together in London, Paris, and New York. They were discovered by the French imprint Kitsuné who released their first single, "Drugs In My Body" in 2007.
2008's "Play Music", their first album released under Shelflife Records, was recorded in Berlin, London, New York City and Stockholm. Their sophomore release, "Again & Again" was released in 2010.
The band's name was most likely inspired by the New Order song Thieves Like Us, itself named after the Robert Altman film of the same name.

and now, here are the links, the first is to their song, ''drugs in my body'' and the second is their song ''headlong into night'' enjoy everybody!! :{D

inde band of the day

Poliça (often written as Polica) is an American indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota with an electronic and R&B sound. The band was founded in 2011 by Ryan Olson and Channy Leaneagh who had previously collaborated in the soft rock band Gayngs.
According to Channy Leaneagh, Polica is Polish for "policy", and she sees it as a reference to an unwritten code that guides the members when they play together, as well as its work ethic. The name appears to be a loose derivation, as there is no "ç" in Polish alphabet. There is a similar word "polisa", that literally means "insurance policy" in Polish, in particular – the contract document itself.
On the other hand Polica, without the "ç" and locally known as Police, is a mountain, 1,369 m (4,491 ft), in southern Poland near Zawoja, in the Żywiec Beskids mountain range. LOT Polish Airlines Flight 165 crashed on the northern slope of Police on 2 April 1969. The accident spot is marked by a cross, erected in the 1990s. Until 1918 Polica was on the border between Galicia and Hungary, and between 1918 and 1920 on the Polish-Czechoslovak border.
Their first album, Give You the Ghost, was released on Valentine's Day, 2012 and received praise from critics, including Grammy winner and Bon Iver founder Justin Vernon who told Rolling Stone, "They're the best band I've ever heard."Two tracks on the album feature vocals by Bon Iver's Mike Noyce. Rolling Stone's review of the album said that Leaneagh's "focused, tender voice cascades over dense fields of minor key electronics, backed by funked-up bass and a swarm of percussion. It's the sound of heartbreak and celebration happening simultaneously." Consequence of Sound's review said that "the post-prog-rock percussion and mellifluous bass, along with Channy Leanagh's Auto-Tuned swan songs, re-shape the intersection of rhythm and blues."
In March 2012, the band played at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where NPR wrote that
Polica appears on the brink of something more worldwide, thanks in part to polished and propulsive, word-of-mouth-inducing live shows like this one. Where Give You the Ghost gives the suggestion of a subdued live presence, Polica's stage show heads to somewhere approaching the opposite extreme — a welcome jolt of beauty and power.
The Huffington Post review of Poliça's SXSW performance said that "Poliça makes moody music that will stick to your bones. This band is going to be huge."
On March 29, 2012 the Poliça song "Amongster" was used on the television show Person of Interest ("Identity Crisis", Season 1, Episode 18). Another song, "Lay Your Cards Out" (featuring Mike Noyce), was used on the television show 666 Park Avenue ("Downward Spiral", Season 1, Episode 7).
On April 25, 2012 Poliça appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. On August 22 the band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. On October 14 Poliça played at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas. On October 30 they appeared on the UK television show Later... with Jools Holland.

indie band of the day

okay guys, so yesterday i was extremely sick so i couldnt post the indie band of the day. therefore here is the band of the day for the 15th, they're called parov stelar and they either play as a band or just Marcus Füreder . so here is their info:

Marcus Füreder (born November 27, 1974), better known by his stage name Parov Stelar is a musician who lives and works in Linz, Austria. He performs with his band the Parov Stelar Band — and as a DJ worldwide. Parov Stelar is the head of Etage Noir Recordings.
After gaining experience as a DJ at nightclubs during the mid-late 1990s, Parov Stelar got involved in producing and publishing in 2000.
After early works under the pseudonym Plasma and his real name, and also being a partner of the label Bushido Recordings, in 2004 he started producing under the pseudonym Parov Stelar. In the same year he founded his own label: Etage Noir Recordings.
His first release, for Etage Noir, "KissKiss EP" and the soon after released LP "Rough Cuts", provided him immediate breakthrough on the international electronic music scene. His specific approach to music production, combined with a proven sense of sound aesthetics, led to massive reaction of audience and colleagues all around the world, giving him reputation as the founder of a new genre: "electro swing"
Parov Stelar's tracks have been used on more than 700 compilations (for example: Hôtel Costes, Buddha Bar, Electro Swing) and have been the soundtrack for numerous TV ads, TV shows, TV series and movies. In 2012, his retro-song "Booty Swing" was featured in the US television advertising campaign entitled "Just the Right Amount of Wrong" for the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas resort and casino. Also in 2012, an excerpt from his song "Chambermaid Swing" was used in a well-known Bacardi commercial.

The Parov Stelar Band

After starting as a solo artist and gaining initial success, in 2005 Parov Stelar began to perform live sets with a full band. This collaboration with four (later five) musicians noticeably influenced his work.

indie band of the day

okay, so here is the indie band of the day. i found them about three months back and after seeing only one of their videos i knew i was absolutely in love. they're called the shoes and recently, i noticed a song by them online which included none other than Jake Gyllenhaal, that's right donnie darko folks. ofcourse i had to watch it and after doing so i realized i was absolutely in love with both the video as well as the band. so without further ado, here is the band info guys, it's basically an interview due to the fact that they are french and do not have any information in english haha:
You’re playing at Hyéres this year and you also played last year. What does the association mean to you? Is it important to associate yourselves with the fashion world?

We love the fashion world and the human size of the festival. The mood is just so great. We really enjoyed being there last year so we are more than happy to come back play at la Villa Noailles.

You’ve had quite a journey so far and you have collaborated with some of the more edgier and interesting names in music. How has all of that influenced how you approach your music?

It’s always really creative and interesting : we learn a lot about ourselves, and we have the chance to produce only for artist we like. Benjamin and i are not good for the same things, so depending on the project, it’s more him, more me or more us. Anyway, it’s always surprising. Concerning remixes, it’s different. We learned that we are more talented remixing a track we don’t especially love, because it’s challenging, it means creating something we love from something we don’t like. It’s exciting.

Nowadays the internet, social media, youtube etc play a big part and are often used as the main tools to build a brand/band and get musicians out there, has this been a reality for you? How has it impacted your come-up?

It’s been a reality for The Shoes, yes. Well, we are from the myspace generation : we were in several bands, we did a lot of different stuff, and one day we wanted to do something different, so we created a fake band account on myspace, with the first fake band name that came in mind and put some new tracks on. 3 months later, we were signed on Green United Music. It was in 2008. Now it’s 2012, we are about to play the Olympia in 2 months, which is the most famous venue in Paris, and it’s gonna be quite ironic and funny to see our band name in huge red neon letters as we still have this first fake band name that came in mind...

You’ve also done a lot of production for other artists, is this something you are going to continue with or are you focusing mainly on your own work going forward?

Both ! We are always producing for other bands at the same time, it’s more healthy because if we were only working together all the time on our stuff, i think we’d kill each other !

How did your collaboration with Jake Gyllenhaal come about?

Daniel Wolfe directed the video for Stay The Same, and we loved it. We wanted to work with him again, and he really likes our music. So we talked about doing a new video for Time to Dance, and he was really into it. Daniel is working a lot with actors, in Stay the Same it was with Johnny Harris (This is england), this time it was with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Would it be fair to see it as symbolic of a full-on cross-over to mainstream fame?

No, we don’t think so. We’ve never been more indie ! It’s about a famous British director doing a video for an indie French band with a mainstream A-listed American actor, and about this same actor who likes our music, playing a psychopath serial hipster killer in our video, because it’s far away from roles he usually plays.

And how has his presence in your video affected your popularity as a band?

Everybody was talking about it, about him and then about us. But we won’t play at le Stade De France like David Guetta because of that.

A lot of bands that are viewed as underground in the early stages of their careers often adjust their sound as they get popular, has your sound changed as you’ve grown? if it has, how has it changed? If not, then how do you stay true to it?

In the beginning our music was more electronical, but also because we just threw out few tracks one day on myspace, and producing electro music at this time was a good way to become famous and produce for others. We have always been a pop rock band. So as we get popular, we also get closer to what we are really : a pop-rock band. We are just becoming what we trully are.

The imagery used in some of your videos is pretty dark, and all the way to gruesomely violent in your video for Time to Dance, what’s the deal? What is the narrative behind the Time to Dance video?

Ha ! This is Daniel Wolfe style ! We let him free to decide about his imagery because it’s his job. We won’t give him advice because we don’t ask for his opinion on our music productions.
We adore what he did the two times we worked together.

There’s an opulent and somewhat camp disco sound that comes across in your music, amongst other influences, and it has also been described as dark electro pop. Are these intentional influences? If they are, where do these influences come from for you? If not, what are your influences?

We have this common interest for pop music since forever, and separately we can say we are influenced by almost everything musical. Benjamin in more into French music, French rock, some folk music. I like hip hop, rap and electro music. We were in many bands, we had that drum& bass band when we were young, we then had a French rock band, we did some electro music too, we produced instrumental and classical music for Woodkid recently. So many things.

What is on your playlists currently?

You’re gonna laugh but i have a lot of my music label’s artists in my iPod, because some are friends too. Anyway the music is always good : Woodkid, Part Company, Rocky...

How important is image to you?

As important as music. Nowdays a great single has to come up with a great video.

What is the next step for The Shoes?

Holidays ! And maybe a new ep, or album, and many new collaborations
